School of Architecture - from the studio

The school's curriculum prepares graduates for the challenges of architects in the 21st century. It is a focused approach to broaden the students' vision by exposing them to ancient cultures as well as contemporary advancements in architecture. Emphasis is placed on general knowledge, professional tools of the trade, sociological and environmental developments, construction techniques and general architectural design.

Graduates receive a Bachelor of Architecture degree and are qualified to work in all aspects of spatial design including urban planning, residential buildings, public buildings, green architecture and landscape architecture.

Graduates are eligible to continue on to a Master of Architecture degree in various fields.

Curriculum Composition

Studio

The studio teachings are a main component in the curriculum based on the "Master" teaching the student - Students are given an architectural design challenge that they have to accomplish under the guidance of an experienced architect who is a member of the school's teaching staff.

This enables student to experience the design process in a simulated environment and practice bringing their abstract ideas into built reality, gradually increasing the difficulty and complexity of the assigned design challenge.

Design and Technology Classes

The various design classes are meant to provide the students with a universal understanding of product design, architectural design and design in general. Students are asked to design both two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects which are later analyzed in a group discussion. These classes are meant to compliment the studio teachings and enrich the students' design vocabulary.

The design and the technology classes include architectural drawing and other visual expression techniques using two and three-dimensional representation tools as well as structural design and theory.

History and Theory Classes

The History and Theory Classes help shape students into intellectual, professional, analytical architects according to the school's vision of what an architect should be. Students are given a set of tools with which they are able to analyze and interpret events in history and art, and implement their conclusions in the Studio.
