Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 1996. The four year course of studies leads to a B. Tech. degree recognized by the Council for Higher Education in Israel.

 

The purpose of the study program is to teach the students the basic knowledge in civil engineering including structural design and construction management, basic understanding of all the spheres of civil engineering, ability to integrate analysis and design together with theory and practical applications,as well as self-study skills. These are the tools that allow our graduates to become civil engineers that find their place in the wide variety of employment opportunities that are available in structural  design and construction, both in the private sector and in the public sector including governmental entities, local municipal authorities, military needs etc. and/or to continue their  graduate studies.

 

The faculty  members at the Department carry out academic research, combine research with applied engineering activities or bring to the Department their rich experience gained from large-scale and high importance projects in the field of civil engineering field.

The faculty members are involved in research in the following topics: treinforced concrete structures, structural response to earthquakes, structural control, structural stability, static and dynamic behavior of structural components made of advanced materials, studying characteristics of construction materials, construction management, and engineering education.
