The Authority for Research & Development                                         אודות

The objective of the Authority for Research & Development is to encourage the research activity carried out in the University Center and to support the faculty members involved in research.

The Authority is an administrative body coordinating all logistic, organizational, and financial aspects of the research activity of the faculty members, and managing research budgets.

The Authority operates under the academic direction of Vice President and Dean for Research and & Development Prof. David Wolf, in accordance to the University Center management guidelines. It is managed by Mr. Alexander Zinigrad, with Administrative Assistant Mrs. Anna Spector in charge of the Authority offices.

The Authority comprises two major departments:
Research Liaison Office
Coordinator: Mrs. Mishel Sosenko

The major areas of Department’s activity are:

1. Assisting faculty members in all matters related to obtaining research budgets, information distribution and encouragement of research activity among faculty members;
2. Ongoing relations with funding agencies in Israel and abroad;
3. Identification of additional funding sources;
4. Assisting faculty members in preparation of research proposals;
5. Submission of research proposals to the funding agencies.

Grants and Contracts Management
Head: Haim Maswari, CPA

The department deals with every aspect of research projects’ operation, including:

1. Relations with the funding agencies (regarding the contract signing and extramural funds management);
2. Preparing and managing research budgets;
3. Receiving and carrying out purchasing requests from the researchers;
4. Research workers admission, employment arrangements and salary payments for research assistants (through the Office of Human Resources);
5. Ongoing reporting and submission of financial report to the funding agencies.

In addition, the Authority deals with the following matters:

1. Reporting the academic achievements of the faculty members (Annual Publications List, Research Projects Report etc.);
2. Establishment of R&D Centers and subsequent support;
3. Assistance in absorption of immigrant scientists.

The Authority cooperates with the technology transfer company of the University Center – “Ariel – University Research and Development Company Ltd.” – in order to promote application - oriented research projects. Mr. Alexander Zinigrad is also a General Manager of the Technology Transfer Company.
