Fire: Use a fire extinguisher to put out fires and call for help. Main electrical switches at the entrance to the building should be shut off.

Life-threatening situations: If your escape route is blocked, or if you cannot safely extinguish the fire, leave the area of the fire immediately and activate the alarm system at the entrance to the building to evacuate the building. Do not attempt to exit the building via a smoke-filled stairway and do not use the elevator.

If you are trapped in a burning building: Go into a near-by room, shut the door and open a window to let in fresh air. Place a wet cloth around the doorway to prevent fire and smoke from entering the room. Cover your nose and mouth with a wet cloth.

What to do in case of an earthquake:

If you are inside a building during an earthquake, go as quickly as possible to a safe place, according to the following order of priorities:

  1. If you can leave the building (a one-story building or the ground floor) within a matter of seconds, exit the building and go outside to an open area.
  2. If you cannot exit the building quickly, go to the “Mamad” (secure space). Leave the Mamad door open.
  3. If you cannot exit the building quickly, and there is no Mamad (secure space), go to the stairwell and if possible go down the stairs to the exit of the building.
  4. Only if you are unable to follow any of the steps outlined above, take cover under a heavy piece of furniture next to an inner wall.
  5. If you are outdoors when an earthquake strikes, remain in an open area and move away from buildings and electric poles.

It is important to remember and familiarize yourself with the emergency alarm buttons in your vicinity.
