Poster Exhibition – presenting the best of our students
On Tuesday, May 14, 2019, the Department of Middle Eastern Studies/Political Science and MECARC’s researchers and faculty members, took part at the first academic poster exhibition of the department.
Sixteen third-year students presented their researches on various issues such as Freedom and Egalitarianism in the Islamic World, Ethos Issues and Israeli Society, and Identities in the Middle East.
The Department’s faculty members and MECARC’s researchers reviewed the presentations and decided about the winners. Captain S., a military intelligence officer, was awarded first prize for his seminar, which deals with the Druze minority in Israel. The second prize went to Ms. Yifat Aharon who wrote her seminar about female circumcision in Egypt. Last but not least was Ms. Ligal Kalaf whose poster concentrated on women’s role in the Islamist Movements in Israel.
Dr. Ronen A. Cohen, MECARC’s Chair greeted the participants and thanked them for their hard work on the research fields and their contribution to the field.
The project, as a whole, was conducted by the department’s seminar lecturers – Dr. Bosmat Yefet, Dr. Chen Friedberg, Dr. Dan Naor, Dr. Etta Bick, Dr. Eyal Lewin, and Dr. Gadi Hitman.
