Seminar: Iran’s Foreign Policy, between Shi’a Militancy and Nationalism

We were honored to host  a seminar of Dr. Chaim Marcinkowski in the issue of Iran’s foreign policy regarding its complex national identity.

Dr. Marcinkowski, an expert of Middle East and Political Islam, spoke about the diverse population of Iran, its minorities, and about the three levels of identity Iraninans have – Persian, Islamic and Shi’ite. He estimated that despite the poverty and despite the fact that Iran composed of many ethnic minorities and the population speaks many different languages, any attempt of the West to overpower Iran will lead to a Rally Round the Flag Effect and unite the Iraninans behind their regime.
