In the coming years, Prof. Gellerman intends to promote administrative and scientific cooperation among the authorized parties at the university – the Rector, department chairs, the Ariel Research Authority etc. His mission is also to increase the number of promising new tenures for strengthening the scientific basis of the faculty. He aims to increase the number of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as post-docs. This will be achieved by introducing attractive tracks, especially those that are not taught in other universities. Prof. Gellerman will increase the number of international inter-departmental collaborations to establish a broad academic, modular and interdisciplinary foundation that meets contemporary and future requirements. Prof. Gellerman is working on the establishment of Ariel Drug Discovery Center (ADDC) at Ariel University’s Faculty of Natural Sciences, aiming to foster academic research, collaborative science and a pioneering educational outlook. ADDC’s main mission is to develop a highly advanced, cutting-edge educational program by integrating promising, novice young PhD and post-doctoral students into high-level research in order to train them in the most advanced drug discovery and drug development methodologies. The ADDC at Ariel University will be the first leading institution in Israel to enable young scientists to participate in this kind of multidisciplinary program, give them the opportunity of utilizing state-of-the art equipment, and enable them to work closely with faculty members and meet the scientific challenges of the future, honing essential drug discovery skills in their early steps of scientific endeavor. Such a program will produce highly skilled, well-trained and experienced young scientists who will add significant human scientific value, not only to the biotech and pharma industries, but to academics, as well.
